Chugiak World Discovery Seminar Program

Fall field day was held in August 2023 amidst the rainiest day we felt possible!

The day started with a group gather for WDS Student Council election speeches and voting, followed by a cross-seminar from our year-long theme “What does it mean to live a good life?”

We wrapped up the seminars around 10 and headed to the Beach Lake Chalet via the ski tunnels for a series of learning stations and lunch. Groups rotated between tie-dying t-shirts, making s’mores, creating fairy houses with organic materials, prepping for the lip sync battle, and playing capture the flag. Some gave their energy and some gave their whole ankles!

The day closed with a return to the school and a lip-sync battle judged by our celebrity guest judges (admin and chaperones). Most photo evidence of this event has been destroyed, but a few artifacts remain.

That’s a wrap on Fall Field Day ’23. Next year, we will be back at the Eagle River Nature Center. We rotate between in-town and out at ERNC each year and are looking forward to our next event! Thank you to all the teachers, chaperones, and administrators who made this happen, and especially to the Beach Lake Chalet for hosting us!
