2023 WDS Graduation Ceremony

Potluck 6:00-6:30 pm
Ceremony 6:30-8:00 pm

May 3rd, 2023 // Chugiak High Library

Please join us at the Chugiak High Library on May 3rd, 2023 at 6pm for our family potluck. The ceremony will begin at 6:30 pm.

Who is invited? The family of any graduating WDS Senior, including parents, siblings, grandparents, guardians, and friends. Please bring your favorite dish to share for the potluck. Plates, cups, utensils, drinks, and cake will be provided by WDS. WDS underclassmen and their familes are invited, but not required or expected to come. WDS students who are not graduating will have a chance to celebrate the graduates the next morning at the goodbye breakfast.

How does the ceremony work? We will introduce the graduates and share a little about the journey they have been on for the last 1-4 years. We will represent the WDS Student of the Year award, which will be announced on May 2nd at the Chugiak Academic Awards. We will also spend time giving away our annual gifts to each student. After the close of the ceremony, we will have an open mic for students to share their favorite memories.

Do we need to RSVP? Regrets only— if your WDS senior cannot attend, please have them let Ms. Handeland know ASAP.

What is the goodbye breakfast? Happening during 1st hour on Thursday, May 4th, this is an all-WDS get-together and potluck breakfast. We celebrate the senior’s plans, recap the graduation ceremony, and say goodbye to our WDS families for the summer.
Freshmen should bring fruit, yogurt, and cold carbs, such as donuts and cinnamon rolls.
Sophomores should bring a hot dish, such as eggs, meat, potatoes, french toast casseroles, etc.
Juniors can bring what they want or bring plates, cups, and juice. We have enough napkins and untensils from past events.
Seniors do not need to bring anything since they will have just potlucked the night before at the graduation ceremony.
